Introducing... Team Guyana 2013

We are (from left to right): Rebecca, Clare, Miriam, Amelia, Jess and Deborah, and we are travelling to Guyana this summer on a GOLD project.

As a group we have decided on three very simple rules to live by:-

REPLY
DO
COMMUNICATE

This makes for a very happy team!

Lots of GOLD love

Hello World!

Hello from Team Guyana GOLD 2013!

We are a group of six young women, between the ages of 18 and 30, from around the UK representing Girlguiding. We are travelling to Guyana this summer to complete a GOLD (Guiding Overseas Linked with Development) project.

So, what is GOLD, I hear you cry? Well...

GOLD provides members of Girlguiding with opportunities for personal development through participation in community development projects overseas using the medium of guiding.

It is:
  • Sustainable and long term- we work towards our projects' aims over a period of three to five years (GOLD Guyana 2013 is the fourth year of GOLD in the country).
  • Inclusive and relevant: we work in partnership with overseas Guiding Associations (in our case, with the Guyana Girl Guides Association (GGGA)) to make sure the projects are targeted to local needs.
There are 8 projects this year, including our destination Guyana.

As documenter for the team, it is my job to share the GOLD love by updating this blog and telling the world about our amazing project in Guyana this summer. I will be posting as often as possible over the next seven months so that we can keep you all informed about our adventure; from planning, to project, to debrief.

Please enjoy, comment and share!

Lots of GOLD love

Miriam
